Introduction
Effective content management is essential for maintaining an organized and up-to-date catalog in the Publica.la store. Our platform offers a comprehensive set of features designed to help you manage your digital and physical publications efficiently. This document outlines the key management features available and how to use them to optimize your content strategy.
Store administrators can manage the store content through the Inventory section in the control panel. The interface provides a comprehensive view of all existing publications and allows for creation of new ones.
Updating Content
Keeping publication metadata current ensures accurate information for your readers and improves discoverability.
Individual Updates
For targeted changes to specific publications:
- Navigate to the publication in your dashboard
- Select "Edit" to modify metadata
- Make your changes
- Save the updated information
This is the only method that allows you to modify publication covers. For physical books, you can also update stock availability by toggling the availability button on or off.
Bulk Updates
Administrators can also update the metadata of multiple publications at once through 3 different methods:
- Excel Import: Upload an Excel file with the updated metadata.
- API Updates: Use our API with the appropriate endpoint to programmatically update metadata
- ONIX Updates: Use ONIX files to update publication information in bulk
Content Organization
Organizing your content effectively helps readers discover relevant publications and enhances the browsing experience.
Collections & Keywords
Collections allow administrators to create custom segments for their publications. When creating or editing a publication, you can select one or more collections to which the publication will be added.
Keywords allow administrators to add relevant words to publications to help with search and discovery.
Collections are ideal for:
- Featuring publications on your store's shelves
- Creating curated reading lists
- Developing subscription plans
Taxonomies
Taxonomies allow administrators to add additional metadata to publications.
Content Linking
Available when the Feature Flag: Publications Groups is enabled
Link related publications to display them as a unit:
- Select the publications you want to link
- Use the "Link Publications" feature
- Define the relationship between the publications
This feature is particularly useful for:
- Combining multiple digital versions of the same title
- Connecting digital and physical versions of a publication
Content Visibility and Availability
Control when and where your publications are available to readers.
Launch Scheduling
Plan your publication releases in advance. If the date is in the future, the publication won't be visible to users until that date. The system will automatically make the content available on the scheduled date
Sales Withdrawal
Remove publications from display without deleting them. The publication will no longer appear in the store but remains in the inventory.
Geographic Restrictions
Manage content availability by region. This feature is essential for managing territorial rights and distribution agreements.
Marketplace Availability
Make your publications available in the Marketplace so that other stores can sell them.

Smart Zoom

Sharing Options
Store owners can share publications with their audience by copying the Reader URL, the Publication Page URL or generating a QR Code.
Gift Content
Enable users to purchase publications as gifts
Free Content
Available when the Feature Flag: Free Publications Limit is enabled and has a value greater than 1 or 0 (unlimited)
Offer select publications at no cost. The system will mark the content as free, and users can access it without payment.
