Pricing

Introduction

Pricing management is a critical component of the system that enables store owners to effectively set, manage, and display product prices across different currencies. Our pricing system supports both manual price definition and automatic currency conversion to provide flexibility while ensuring consistent pricing across global markets.

Pricing Models

The system supports multiple pricing models to accommodate different business needs:

Fixed Pricing

Fixed pricing allows store owners to set specific prices for each product. These prices can be imported through ONIX feeds or defined during the content creation process

Multi-Currency Pricing

Store owners can define prices in multiple currencies for each product:

  • Primary currency: The main currency configured for the store
  • Secondary currencies: Additional currencies that can be offered to customers
  • Each product can have different prices in different currencies based on market considerations

Currency Conversion

Marketplace Content Pricing

When a store imports content from the Marketplace, our system handles currency pricing in the following ways:

  1. Multi-Currency Pricing

    • If the marketplace content has prices already defined in multiple currencies (via ONIX ingestion or set by an administrator) in the owner store, the system will display these pre-defined prices in each available currency
    • No automatic conversion is performed for currencies that already have defined prices
  2. Automatic Currency Conversion

    • If the marketplace content only has a price defined in the primary currency, the system automatically converts this price to other supported currencies
    • This conversion happens at the time content is imported from the marketplace
    • Conversion rates are obtained through the fixer.io API to ensure accuracy
    • The converted prices will be displayed to users browsing the store in their preferred currency

Price Display

How prices are displayed to users depends on several factors:

  1. Store Configuration

    • Primary currency: Set at the store level and used as the default display currency
    • Secondary currencies: Additional currencies that users can select during browsing or checkout
  2. User Experience

    • Users see prices in the primary currency by default
    • If secondary currencies are configured, users can switch between available currencies
    • The currency selector is available throughout the browsing and checkout experience

Price Settings

Store owners can update prices through various methods:

  1. Manual Settings

    • Administrators can set up a default price for all publications in the store via the store sales settings dashboard/settings/sales
    • Default prices can be overridden individually when uploading or editing specific publications.
    • Bulk price updates for multiple products simultaneously
  2. Automated Updates

    • ONIX feed updates that include new pricing information
